Welcome to our website. Men's Bible Studies "Grace and Peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ" Philippians 1:2
God is not like Santa Claus
You know how Santa Claus and God get confused
by some people, with the “He’s making a list, checking it twice, gonna find
out who’s naughty and nice ...” “Oh you better watch out, you better not
pout, you better not cry, … Santa Claus is coming to town.” “He sees you
when you’re sleeping , he knows when you’re awake …” Something like that,
anyway the implication is that Santa is making a list of good kids and bad
kids and the kids on the “good” list are getting the gifts. Now some will
look at God like Santa Claus, watching our every move and if we screw up we
go on the “bad” list or don’t make it on the “good” list; or looking for
those good deeds to put you on the good list. Some would even call that good
list the book of life – i.e. those that are saved.
Anytime, anytime your view of God begins to
look like Santa Claus you are not operating under grace.
Christians are written in the Lambs Book of Life. And a closer look at the
way your name is written there will show you that in this book your name is
etched as in stone. RIGHTEOUSNESS IS NOT SOMETHING YOU EARN – IT IS A
GIFT! When Jesus hung on a cross 2000 years ago He said “It is
finished!” He didn’t go on to add, “except what Dwight has to do, or
what Mike has to do, etc …”. It is complete. There is not one thing you can do to
be more righteous than you are right now. There is nothing you can do to
earn a gift this Christmas. It has been done for you. Rest in His grace.
We are a group of Warriors as described in
Ephesians. 6:10-18 (NIV) Finally, be
strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. [11] Put on the full armor of God so
that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. [12] For our struggle
is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil
in the heavenly realms. [13] Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that
when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you
have done everything, to stand. [14] Stand firm then, with the belt of truth
buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, [15]
and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of
peace. [16] In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you
can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. [17] Take the helmet of
salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. [18] And pray
in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this
in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Friday morning and Tuesday Morning groups Our Studies are structured so you can join in at anytime. Bring a Friend
Our MissionWe believe we are born into a world at war. "Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring - those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus." Revelations 12:17 As Christian men we are called to many roles, such as father, brother, son, husband, disciple, and yes warrior. The mission of The Men's Breakfast is to provide warrior training so we can fight well and powerfully, realizing that we are not in the battle alone but need the love and support of other men in our struggle. (see article "Caring for the Spiritually Wounded") When we fall our comrades are there to help us up or if we are down they will protect us (with prayers and support) until we a ready to re-enter the battle.
The WarriorsWe are a diverse mix of Christian men from various area churches. We come from a mix of church traditions and heritages. We could spend hours arguing doctrine and traditions but have instead agreed to focus on on the basic core message of the bible - we are sinners, there is no way we would ever make it to heaven on our own. We need a savior. Because God loves and cares for us as his own children He sent His only son to earth; Jesus lived the perfect life; He then became the perfect sacrifice. We have been declared guilty, the penalty is death. Jesus suffered and died in our place, He alone has paid the price for all our sins, past, present and future. It is a gift of grace undeserved, never earned, truly a gift. How do we respond? Our Bible study groups were formed to help in the training and preparing warriors for the battles we face each day, Satan is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour ....,We battle sin every day, pride, envy, lust, etc. We may not win every battle but we know Christ has already won the war. We battle sin NOT by focusing on the law, but our righteousness in Christ. We are always open to other warriors joining us in their journey. We do not
care who you are or where you have been - Jesus never turned away any who
earnestly sought him and neither will we. Refresh yourself, hone those warrior
skills join us for coffee or breakfast - or communicate with us about your
journey and your needs through the feedback or the forum. We are starting to
post some of the bible studies check the link. The bottom line: we do not care if you were sprinkled or immersed, or when it happened, whether you drink grape juice or wine, or whether you attend traditional worship or contemporary worship, or whether you recognize ten sacraments or no sacraments, or whether you are quiet in the pews or shout out amen's, or whether you call your worship leader - Priest, Father, Pastor, Reverend, Minister, Brother or Bishop - we know for a fact that we are just as likely to see a Baptist in heaven as a Catholic - we focus on the basics before man (or was it Satan in an effort to divide Christians?) created all these denominations. The Bible is our only text. We are not a substitute for your church, we are just another way to experience His presence with a group of men seeking His will for our lives.
Contact InformationThere are a number of way to communicate with us. There is a feedback form to submit your questions, prayer requests, etc. We check that about weekly. You can also email us at warriors@themensbreakfast.org. You are also welcome to add your thoughts, beliefs, comments, questions to any of the discussions in our forum.
